Vacation Home Rental Agreement

This is an advance copy of a rental agreement that you will be signing upon check-in.  Please review it and acknowledge your familliarity with it on your booking request.  You do not have to send us a copy and please do NOT submit your credit card information.

Booking Deposit – In order to reserve a booking, you will be charged a $250 booking deposit.  We will accept either personal check or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).  If you prefer a credit card deposit, you will be contacted by phone to reserve your vacation home booking.  Full refunds will be given for cancellations greater than 30 days prior to arrival date.  Booking deposit for cancellations within 30 days are not refundable.

Rental Balance & Security Deposit - Upon your arrival, you will be asked to sign this agreement and two credit card slips, one for the balance of your vacation rental fee (total rental fee less booking deposit), and one for a $250 security deposit.  The latter will not be processed unless there is a claim due to damage or missing items. 

This is to indemnify Romancing the Mouse against additional charges in connection with your stay in one of our vacation homes.  Should there be any extra housekeeping required such as cleaning of carpets, replacement of missing items, long distance phone charges, etc. then your credit card will be debited, not to exceed the $250 security deposit.  Romancing the Mouse will inspect the home before & after each rental and maintain a file on each home & its contents.  The home should be left in the same condition in which you found it.  An information booklet with full details of the property is in each home.  Please take the time to read this book.  Should you encounter any problems, please let us know in order to correct it.  We understand that incidents the occasionally occur and it would be best for all concerned if the incident were resolved during your visit.  It is a federal offense to tamper with the smoke alarms or pool safety alarms on patio doors.  It carries a penalty of $5000 fine or 5 years imprisonment.  If the alarm is not working or ceases to work, then it is your responsibility to notify Romancing the Mouse immediately.

If there is a claim for damages or missing items, you will be notified within 30 days of your departure and issued a receipt so you may make a claim against your homeowner’s or holiday insurance.  Any missing items, damages, extra charges and/or maintenance charges incurred as a result of your stay will incur an additional $25 administrative fee.  For a lost key(s), there will be a minimum charge of $75.

Early Arrival or Late Check-out must be arranged in advance with Romancing the Mouse and is dependent on departure time of the previous guest or arrival time of the next guest.  If you arrive earlier than 4 PM on the day of arrival, at a minimum, you will be able to drop off luggage and use the resort’s facilities, even if your home is not yet ready for occupancy.  GUESTS WHO CHECK OUT AFTER 10 AM WITHOUT PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE CHARGED THE FULL RATE FOR THE NEXT DAY from your security deposit.

Pet Policy - Personally, we are dog-owners and pet-lovers, but unfortunately, even if your pet is very clean and well-trained, some of our guests are highly allergic to pet-dander.  Once an animal has stayed in a home, it is nearly impossible to eliminate all signs of the visit.  For this reason, we are pet-free.
